These shards were found along the canal of Utrecht. By 1850, the walls were demolished, and the rubble ended up in the canal. These shards have surfaced as a result of the recent dredging of the canals in Utrecht. It's a mix of various types of ceramics, most of it probably made in Utrecht. Until the Second World War Utrecht had a thriving ceramics industry. Tile- and brick factories were located on Rotsoord and along the Jutfaseweg, which is nearby.
